The exhibition Between Stages, Phases, Stops (DOING FOR DOING), curated by Christian Egger, is the final presentation of Kunstverein Eisenstadt in its traditional premises, which it has occupied since 2018. After that, we set out on a wandering path as the art association takes its program on the move due to upcoming extensive renovations. This exhibition responds to this special situation by bringing together works that explore moments of structural change, transition and the qualities of a fixed space for presenting contemporary art—its characteristics, conditions, roles and interests—for the last time. This is not about a conclusion, but rather an interruption, just as the exhibition’s aesthetic core consists of contrasts and ambivalences. The sequences of spatial and temporal decoupling aim to present the space and the works within it momentarily beyond judgment, left to their own presence.
